Episode 33. Oracle vs Google, US Vs Microsoft, and now you can keep your salary a secret

We start this podcast swinging, looking like a 80’s boxing series, we are in round 5 of Oracle vs Google (we just offer a small update). Then we dive into a new California ruling that’s taking the tech world by storm (Wage history cannot be used to discriminate against minorities), and lastly we land into US vs Microsoft, which dropped their lawsuit because of the recently passed CLOUD act…Not a good thing. So take a listen as we dive into all of these topics while introducing a new pundit (Janine Patterson) to the group!

Episode 14. of Googlacle, Superheroes (and EE Guardians), Oracle Stewardship, and Larry Elison’s comfy chair

Oh goodness! There is so much news going on now! Google and Oracle are on round 4 of their lawsuit, and while these giants battle it in Court, it seems that Oracle is stopping investing in Java Development! What does this mean for Java? Is it the end of rapid release lifecycles? Is EE losing too much steam? And just like in the movies, when everything seems dire, a new hero (sort-of) forms. The Java EE Guardians splash the scene! for Truth…Justice…and The Ameri…oh wait, no, that’s Superman. The Guardians are all about convincing Oracle that leaving EE is a bad idea. Would they succeed? Let’s hear what the opinion in the room is about these group of spirited developed banded with a purpose.

Episode 10. Oh Snap! Google is gonna be using OpenJDK in Android!

Holy smokes Batman! Google is going to be using OpenJDK for its Android OS? How did that happen? and what does that mean for Java. Is Google simply avoiding further headache in the future from its Oracle lawsuit? Or is this a smart play where Google wins with Android where they get to standarized (goodbye Samsung customization?). Take a listen to see what is going to happen (or what we think is going to happen anyways!)
